Our Services & Transformative Approach
At Hope View Haven, our services are designed to empower participants through the unique bond between humans and horses. With a focus on self-regulation, strengths-based learning, and horsemanship, we offer transformative experiences that help youth overcome challenges and build brighter futures.

Program pillars
Strengths-Based
We focus on what participants can do. By tailoring activities to each individual’s strengths, we help them discover their abilities, build self-confidence, and find hope for the future.
Self-Regulation
Horses are prey animals, highly attuned to their environment and emotions. To successfully work with a horse, participants must learn to regulate their own emotions. These skills extend far beyond the barn, helping participants succeed at home, school, and work.
Horsemanship
Through learning horsemanship skills like grooming, leading, and riding, participants practice self-regulation in real time. Even those who don’t become lifelong equestrians leave with a sense of accomplishment, life skills, and hope.
What we offer
Equine-Assisted Learning (Farm or Mobile)
Targeted intervention typically conducted in 8 week cohorts. Service time for group interventions can range from 20-90 minutes and focuses on teaching horsemanship skills and social, communication, and self-regulation skills. Programming is customized based upon the needs and goals of the participants.
Equine Assisted Support (Mobile)
Miniature horse visits to schools, nursing homes, hospitals, and other residential settings, bringing the joy of horse interactions to those who may not otherwise get the chance. These activities also provide service learning opportunities for our EAL students to serve as volunteers supporting these visits, allowing them to utilize their horsemanship skills to give back to their communities.
Farm-Experience Programs (Farm-Based)
These programs allow participants a wide range of experiences, including horse care and first aid, farm chores, gardening, exposure to a wide range of career interests and positive mentors, as well as learning the essential life and employment skills that are embedded in keeping an active horse farm running smoothly.

What makes us different
Rooted in Community
Hope View Haven is part of an amazing community of Equine Assisted Service providers in our area that have goals to support youth in reaching their full potential. Our mission is to reach underserved youth in our community who have experienced childhood trauma and need a supportive and safe environment where they might have positive and resiliency-boosting experiences.
Founded in Purpose
Hope View Haven’s programming comes directly from the work of Broad View Equine Assisted Activities and Therapies, which got its start providing Equine Assisted Learning services to youth detained in a local juvenile detention center. Broad View’s initial groups with those students helped confirm the transformative power of EAL for students who need reminding of the promising future that is available to them and the gifts they have to share with the world.
Empowering Youth
Hope View Haven will proudly carry on that tradition, aiming to support youth who have experienced childhood trauma from elementary school-age through the transition into adulthood. Our goal is to help youth find hope for a brighter future through partnering with horses, and ensuring they have the resources and connections to achieve it.
“The kids we work with often find it difficult to talk about their challenges. Through horsemanship, they gain self-regulation skills and a sense of accomplishment in a way that feels natural and engaging.”
Katie Joseph, Equine Specialist in Mental Health and Learning
